It is a privilege to serve as Business Manager of IBEW System Council U-8. I am honored to have been selected and will continue to do it with the passion of those that have been in this office before me.
For those of you who do not know me, I started with Florida Power in 2000, as a Generation Process Specialist at the Hines Energy Complex. Primarily working at the Tiger Bay facility, I have had a blessed career here over the years.
I started in the Union as a steward at Hines, followed by several offices in the sub-local of 626. I eventually became the Business Manager of Local 626 and the Treasurer of the System Council. I also served as Assistant Business Manager to the Council for a while when the workload needed it.
I would like to say that I work for the members of this Union, through the officers that you have elected. I value the input of each one of them and I want to reiterate that your participation in the locals is key to the success of this body. I say this during every Code of Excellence training that I have given…please attend your meetings and support your officers and your union.
I would like to congratulate Phil Howard on his selection to become the International Representative in the area for the main IBEW. We now have two members that have transitioned to full-time employment with the International, and that says a lot about the dedication and expertise that Brothers Ed Mobsby and Phil Howard bring to the table. Phil will continue as our International Representative as well as helping other local IBEW unions in Florida.
Please continue to work safely out there and I look forward to seeing you at local meetings when I can attend them.
