Sisters and Brothers,

I am sitting here today with mixed emotions. I have spent the better part of my life and my entire adult life working for Florida Power/ Progress Energy/ Duke Energy, and much of that time in a Union role, whether as a Steward, Officer or Business Manager. I have always tried to represent you with integrity and respect. I have done my absolute best to make sure your voice is heard and to make a difference. I believe we have made huge strides in building and cultivating relationships that transcend the industry norms and those fruits blossom at the bargaining table. It is certainly true that management and unions do not always agree completely; that is the very nature of that dynamic. However, in a relationship of mutual respect, when there are disagreements, we work together to find a resolution, and we are usually successful in doing so. I love SCU8 with all my heart and those relationships, both personal and professional, will always be near and dear to me. You will always be special and close to my heart.

Sisters and Brothers, the IBEW offered me an International Representative position and I have accepted, effective May 1, 2026. The System Council has taken my recommendation and unanimously voted to appoint Brother David Herlocker to complete my term as Business Manager SCU8 beginning May 1, 2026. Please join me in congratulating and supporting Dave in this new role. 

As for me, I will be ready to assist SCU8, and it’s 5 Local Unions however I can and whenever I am able. I will remain a member of Local 433 and SCU8 and will continue to pay my dues. Serving in my various union roles, and especially as your leader, has truly been the honor of my life.
