Sisters and Brothers,
As you are probably aware, our sister local in Indiana, 1393, recently voted down the Company's "Last, Best Offer" and overwhelmingly voted to strike over those terms. To be clear, 1393 is NOT on strike currently. They are gathering information by conducting surveys, which is a necessary step required before being sanctioned by the International Office to go out on strike. In the meantime, Local 1393 and the Company continue to talk in hopes of finding a resolution and a contract that all parties can be proud of.
To avoid potentially harming Local 1393's cause, System Council U8 will not publicly comment on the complexities or the specifics of their negotiations, other than to say, we remain in contact with Business Manager Wilson, and we continue to support their position.
Sisters and Brothers, there are a ton of distractions in the world right now, and with our negotiations beginning in September, there will undoubtedly be more on the horizon. Please keep your mind on the job and be your brothers' and your sisters' keeper. Thank you all, and please continue working safely.
Fraternally yours,
Phil
